Introduction

This project aimed to address the issue of women's lack of education and knowledge, particularly their inability to operate cell phones due to the core issue of being unable to read and write. To tackle this problem, the Lakasa Nepal Team conducted investigations and held meetings to develop a solution, which resulted in the implementation of a post literacy class.

The proposed solution was to provide post literacy classes to the women, which would enable them not only to read and write but also to empower them in the process. The project mobilized a women's group and took them to the National Resource Centre for Non-Formal Education, where they received training on facilitating post literacy classes. Two facilitators were trained during a four-day facilitation training provided by the center.

One of the facilitators continued to conduct the post literacy classes in Pahade Thapa Gaun, and the literacy class was designed to last for 100 days. Throughout this 100-day period, the facilitation skills of the instructor improved, and as a result, 16 women successfully passed the post literacy exam, demonstrating their newfound ability to read and write.

Additionally, the project organized seven programs focused on skillful activities, aiming to further empower the women and enhance their capabilities.

Overall, the project succeeded in achieving its objective of empowering women by improving their literacy skills, thus enabling them to gain more knowledge and participate more actively in their community and beyond.
