Introduction

School Rehabilitation Project (SRP) is a disaster response project implemented in one of the field program locations (FPLs) of Lakasa Nepal: Sikharpa. This project was a solution identified to the issue “Damaged school properties due to landslide”.

This project aims to create a favorable teaching and learning environment for school students and teachers and support in rehabilitation of the school. Material support under this project contribute towards regaining of tools and equipment which was damaged during July 2019 landslide. The teachers and students will have access to educational materials and devices such as computers, charts, sports materials, stationery items. These materials will re-support the students’ practical learning environment. The project also support internet connection for easy access to information and communication that would help the school to smoothly operate its administration and educational activities.

The provided materials are being responsibly used and maintained as per requirement by the team of School Management Committee and teachers/ students.The cost for repair and maintenance including continued utilization and management of materials will be managed by the school itself.

Favourable Teaching and Learning Environment

  • 120 students accessed improved learning facilities with the acquisition of equipment for information technology like computers, internet, charts and other interactive teaching materials.
  • 1 Early Child Development (ECD) Classroom established and equipped with pre-school sports materials, indoor games, charts and other educational materials for children’s physical and emotional fitness opportunities.
  • 120 students accessed individual stationary package including copy, colors, pencil box, pencil, eraser and a sharpener
  • Improved teaching method with advanced and interactive teaching materials like geometry shapes, charts & diagrams, etc.
  • Smooth operation of administrative tasks in the school with equipment like computers, office racks and other furniture.
  • Developed collective working relationship between School management committee, Sikharpa Aguwa Krishak Samuha and Student’s Guardians/ community through the implementation of School Rehabilitation Project

We managed to successfully purchase the materials and conduct a handover ceremony in front of respective officials from the municipality, ward, school students, teachers, parents, Sikharpa Aguwa Krishak Samuha members and Lakasa Nepal representatives.
