Introduction

"Covid 19 - Emergency Response Project, 2020" was implemented in the three PHDP Field Program Locations with the funding support of Outreach International in response to the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic.

The project objectives were to provide food assistance to affected needy families and to support CBOs to sustain their means of communication and networking system.

Providing food assistance and helping to sustain a means of communication during Covid 19

  • Project achieved more than set target – increased number of beneficiary households (123 to 321), increased quantity of food distributed (2460 kgs to 3264 kgs).
  • Established alternative communication system through online meetings, telephonic conversation and group calls for regular and required communication.
  • Project also helped in raising consciousness among people about safety measures to be taken like handwashing, keeping distance minimum of 1 meter while meeting people in public places, using face masks, maintaining personal hygiene, no gatherings during lockdown.
  • Project could cover most needy people as elders, single women/ heads, wage workers, pregnant women/ women in postnatal care, and differently abled people were given first priority for food assistance.
  • Community level DRRM committees were formed and taking initiations for further planning to address calamity issues.
